What we do

CMK Crane Hire coordinates crane hire, machine moving, rigging, abnormal load transport, forklifts and access platforms across South Africa. We take a customer's brief — what they're lifting, where, when, under what constraints — and handle the rest end-to-end. Scope. Quote. Plan. Mobilise. Lift. Demobilise. Invoice. One point of contact through the whole job.

How we work

Most crane hire companies operate on a yard-and-fleet model: own the cranes, send them out, charge for time. We take a different approach. We run a managed-service model with one focus — getting the right machine, the right crew, the right paperwork, to the right site, at the right time, for the right price. That focus means we can spec across the full 20–300 ton range, source specialist equipment like spider cranes and aerial platforms when the job calls for it, and bundle abnormal load transport into the same project quote when it pairs with a lift.

The other thing it means: our customers don't deal with multiple operators, multiple invoices, multiple coordination headaches. Brief us once. Get one quote. Get one invoice. That's the value proposition.

Where we operate

Our head office is in Cape Town, but our operational service areas span South Africa:

• Johannesburg & Surrounding Gauteng — our primary operational market. Most jobs land here.
• Cape Town & Surrounding Western Cape — local fleet for in-province work.
• Durban / Pietermaritzburg & Surrounding KZN — coastal industrial and harbour work.
• Witbank / Middleburg / Nelspruit & Surrounding Mpumalanga — mining, power generation, industrial corridor.

For longer-term projects further afield (Limpopo, Free State, North West, neighbouring SADC countries), we mobilise from our closest depot or coordinate through our supplier network.

What "concierge crane hire" actually means

"Concierge" isn't a marketing word for us. It's the way the work runs. Most of our customers are office-bound — they don't drive to site, they don't supervise the lift. They need someone to take the brief, make the decisions, and report back when the job's done.

That's what we do:

• Field Reps visit site to survey access, ground conditions and lift requirements before quoting where complexity warrants it.
• Project coordination sequences the lift with abnormal load transport, electrical isolations, scaffolding, and any other trades.
• SHEQ paperwork — lift plans, method statements, risk assessments, insurance certificates — delivered before mobilisation.
• Single invoice consolidates crane, rigging, transport, escorts, permits and any extras into one line at the end.
